BeEzrat HaShem
Back to Q&A

The Gemara in Masechet Sanhedrin and Masechet Rosh Hashanah both teach us that HaKadosh Baruch Hu decides on Rosh Hashanah how much money each person will make. If religious Jews truly believed this, why would they think that donating five million dollars to a political campaign will secure their future better than donating that same money to help Am Yisrael do teshuvah?

The Gemara clearly states Hashem determines our annual income – fundamental *emunah*. It is deeply troubling that religious Jews donate millions to political campaigns (e.g., $5M for a politician) instead of *teshuvah* and Torah outreach, whose combined budgets are often less. This shows a severe crisis of *emunah* and *bitachon*, prioritizing human politicians over Divine providence for Am Yisrael's future. Such trust in man, not Hashem, is unintentional *kefirah*. The Gemara teaches money for *mitzvot* and *tzedakah* is fully repaid by Hashem. Am Yisrael's true protection and salvation come solely through *teshuvah*, Shabbat, and Torah, not political influence or donations. Misplacing our trust and resources this way misses the essence of Judaism.
