But how can one truly guard their mouth? The Chofetz Chaim offers a powerful and effective technique: cultivate Bitachon. Rabbi Lerner explains that a person living with Bitachon understands that anyone who attempts to cause harm, whether physical, verbal, or otherwise, is merely a messenger of Hashem. Nothing can happen without Hashem's decree, making such incidents either a form of divine payback or a wake-up call. This perspective prevents one from harboring ill feelings towards others. Imagine a competitor ruining a business; a person with true Bitachon remains calm, knowing Hashem can provide from countless other sources. Rabbi Lerner illustrates this with a beautiful parable: a father gives candy to his children, and one brother snatches another's. Instead of fighting, the wronged child approaches his father, explaining the situation and asking for another candy. The father, overjoyed by his son's maturity and adherence to his instructions, not only gives him a better candy but also showers him with affection. This powerful story serves as a guide for us, the children of our Holy Father in heaven. When someone wrongs us, we are encouraged to forgive them, turn to Hashem in prayer, and trust that He will not only restore what was lost but provide something even better.
