Is It A Mitzvah To Smoke Weed?
A student asks Rabbi Yaron Reuven, "Is it a mitzvah to get pleasure from the world? If it is, would it be a mitzvah to smoke weed ?" Rabbi Reuven reveals an important lesson from the Sages in Masechet Rosh Hashanah 16, that a person's parnasa that is decreed for them also includes how much enjoyment they will get during the year: If a person engages in forbidden pleasures like smoking weed or wasting seed, they will lose from kosher enjoyment they were suppose to get. And if they don't stop, they won't be able to tolerate life while sober, they will not enjoy Torah learning and to top it off, they will be judged as a Wayward and Rebellious son.
