However, a significant complication arose: the letter Yossi received was not the Tzaddik’s actual advice. The Tzaddik had actually advised against the business, but due to a mix-up, Yossi received a different letter entirely. Now, the Tzaddik holds the check. Should he return it, or can he keep the money? We turn to the esteemed Holy Tzaddik of our generation, Rabbi Yitzhak Zilberstein, for his definitive ruling. Rabbi Zilberstein ruled that the Tzaddik may keep the money and is not obligated to inform Yossi of the letter mix-up. This decision hinges on the concept of Siyata Dishmaya, the direct assistance from Heaven. Despite the mistaken advice, Yossi’s success was deemed a special, divinely orchestrated blessing. Drawing upon the wisdom of Chazal in the Talmud, specifically Ksuba 60b, Rabbi Zilberstein emphasizes that when a Torah scholar possesses Yiras Shamayim and answers a question of practical importance, he is granted Siyata Dishmaya to ensure the correct results are reached. This means that even if a G-d-fearing person gives a seemingly incorrect answer, Hashem intervenes to make that counsel correct, showering blessing upon the advice because of His love for His G-d-fearing Talmidei Chachamim. Rabbi Zilberstein then clarified a crucial distinction: had Yossi received a letter of blessing from someone else, mistakenly believing it came from this specific Tzaddik, then revealing the truth and returning the money would be necessary. However, since the successful outcome stemmed from a letter that did physically originate from the Tzaddik, the subsequent blessing and success are attributed to that source through Siyata Dishmaya. Therefore, the Tzaddik is permitted to remain silent and retain the funds.
