Role of Yeshivas in Preserving Orthodox Jewish Values and Learning
Yeshivot like Telshe-Riverdale play a crucial role in preserving and transmitting authentic Orthodox Jewish values and Torah learning. The yeshiva system is essential for ensuring that the next generation is properly educated in Torah study and mitzvah observance according to the mesorah (tradition) passed down from our gedolim. By immersing students in an environment dedicated solely to limudei kodesh (sacred studies) from a young age, yeshivot instill the proper hashkafah (worldview) and provide the foundational Torah knowledge that is vital for living an authentically Torah-true lifestyle. It is critical to send children to proper Orthodox yeshivot rather than public schools or so-called "modern Orthodox" institutions that deviate from our sacred traditions. As the Rambam rules, a Jewish community has no right to exist without a proper Torah-based school system. The future of Klal Yisrael depends on giving our youth a thorough Torah education free from the negative influences of the secular world. However, it is not enough to merely enroll one's children in yeshiva. Parents must serve as living examples of Torah values in the home. If parents disrespect or ignore Torah while sending kids to yeshiva, the yeshiva education will largely be ineffective. Torah must be the foundational priority for the family - not just financially supporting yeshiva, but fully embracing and living a Torah lifestyle. This is how gedolim like Rav Ovadiah Yosef were able to raise future Torah leaders.
