Strengthening Mitzvot Observance Amid Increased Terrorism
My dear brethren, in these difficult times of increased terrorism and anti-Semitism, it is crucial that we as Orthodox Jews strengthen our commitment to Torah and mitzvot. When HaKadosh Baruch Hu sends us such tragedies, it is a call for us to do teshuvah and increase our observance of His mitzvot. This is not a time for complacency, but a time to fortify our spiritual defenses through diligent Torah study, tefillah, and fulfillment of mitzvot. Firstly, we must recommit ourselves to learning Torah on a daily basis, as the Torah is our life-source and connection to Hashem. Even if it is just 15-20 minutes per day, studying the holy words of the Torah will elevate our souls and strengthen our emunah. We should also increase our tefillot and pour out our hearts to Hashem, begging for mercy and protection during these perilous times. Furthermore, we must meticulously observe the mitzvot, not treating them as a burden but embracing them wholeheartedly. Whether it is keeping Shabbat, wearing tzitzit, observing the laws of family purity, or giving tzedakah - every mitzvah we perform is a spiritual fortification against the threats we face. We cannot be complacent, for as the Rambam teaches, failure to observe the mitzvot brings calamity and hardship. Finally, we must reignite our passion for Torah outreach and kiruv. By inspiring our brethren to return to Hashem and observe His mitzvot, we create merits for the entire nation and draw Hashem's protection upon us. This is a sacred obligation, for as the Zohar states, one who protects the Brit through fulfilling mitzvot will be shielded from harm by the angels above and demons below. Let us be zealous in our commitment to Hashem and never compromise on even the smallest mitzvah - this is our spiritual armor against the darkness that threatens us.
