That ain’t the question, that’s the wrong direction, You’re standing in pain—this is self-inspection. The real question cuts deeper inside: “What should I fix?”—drop the pride. What did I do? Where did I fall? What needs תיקון behind it all? We wait for the storm to open our eyes, But the warnings were there in a silent disguise. We didn’t look, we didn’t care, Till the pain made truth impossible to ignore there. Don’t ask why—ask what to change, That’s the way to rearrange. From the darkness to the light, Fix yourself and set it right. The גְּמָרָא says—when suffering comes near, Check your actions, make it clear. Go through your life, don’t let it slide, Find the cracks that you tried to hide. This ain’t random, this ain’t chance, Not nature playing circumstance. To say it’s coincidence, just bad luck’s hand, That’s כְּפִירָה—you don’t understand. The Rambam writes in הלכות תעניות, When the ציבור suffers, raise your cries. Sound the trumpets, wake the soul, Because sin is the root of the toll. Don’t ask why—ask what to change, Break the cycle, rearrange. Not coincidence, not chance at play, Hashem is speaking—what will you say? And leaders—this is your role to lead, Not just comfort, but plant the seed. But today we got speeches soft and wide, Filling stadiums, feeding pride. “You’re okay, everything’s fine”— While the warning signs align. Yirmiyahu already cried this truth: False comfort destroys the youth. They showed you vanity, empty flame, Didn’t call out sin—didn’t fix the shame. If leaders hide what must be said, They lead the people straight to dread. Because without truth, no one can know, Where to fix, where to grow. You don’t pick parts that feel alright, You give the full truth, dark and light. Because teshuva needs clarity, Not speeches built on popularity.
